An official Everton publication to commemorate the Blues leaving their home of 133 years
Farewell to Goodison is a celebration of an atmospheric sporting cathedral that has played a pivotal part in millions of lives.
Built in 1892, Goodison Park is unique. It was the first club ground to host an FA Cup final, the first English stadium to boast four sides with two-tier stands, the first to have a three-tiered stand, the first to see programmes sold to its spectators, and the first to feature dugouts and undersoil heating.
Goodison Park has also hosted World Cup matches, including a semi-final, a world title boxing bill, baseball, and played host to the visit of a reigning monarch – twice. It has starred in a Rocky movie, has played host to wedding proposals and marriages, seen landmark birthday celebrations staged there and is also a sombre shrine, the final resting place for hundreds of Evertonians.
To commemorate Everton Football Club’s departure from Goodison in May 2025, this book celebrates a century of memorable Goodison moments. They are not exclusive. But they are representative of a very special place which, for 133 years, has been ‘home’.
